Data Sync Error handling

Updated by Devinder Singh

Introduction

Byteline allows users to handle the errors that they may encounter while synchronizing the data of two different databases or CMS systems. Whether you want to view the errors in detail or want to resolve errors, the platform lets you do it with ease.

How to Resolve Errors During Data Synchronization

In this guide, we have uncovered a few simple steps to show how you can view the errors in Byteline and use this information to figure out what exactly the error is, resolve the error, and then restart the sync on Byteline.

We have divided this article into two sections to make it easy for you to view the error and understand the process of error handling on Byteline, as illustrated below:

  • Viewing Errors
  • Restarting Sync After Error Resolution

Let’s begin.

Viewing Errors

Byteline lets you view and resolve the errors that you may get while synchronizing the data between two different databases or CMS systems. Suppose you want to synchronize Airtable and Webflow databases and have accidentally entered an incorrect or broken link into Airtable. Even though Airtable accepts these types of links, Webflows doesn’t accept them. In this case, Byteline will show an error during the process of data synchronization between Airtable and Webflow.

If there’s some error in the databases or CMS systems, the synchronization process will either fail or you will get an error message on Byteline. You can view the error message in detail on the platform and find out what exactly the error is and why it ran into an error. You can also see the arrows below the test run modal window, which will help you to find out where exactly the error occurred.

Based on these error details, you can fix the error easily. After resolving the error, you can start the synchronization process.

Steps to View Errors

Step 1: On the Data Sync page, click on the desired sync from the My Sync list shown in the sidebar menu.

Once you click on the desired sync, you will be able to view the error in detail and the reason for the failure of data synchronization. The arrow below the modal window will point to the database/CMS system where the error occurred.

Restarting Sync After Error Resolution

Based on the above error details, users can fix the error, and after that, they need to start the data synchronization between Airtable and Webflow on Byteline.

Step 1: Click on the Start Sync button to restart the synchronization.

Note: Users can also turn on the toggle switch to start the synchronization located at the top right corner of the displayed screen.

You have successfully resolved the errors during data synchronization. Feel free to connect us with any doubts.
